Petition · past parliament

Make organ donation compulsory, with an option to opt out.

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

Instead of signing up to donate, it would be signing up to not donate. This would increase the amount and availability of organs to people who need them, which would otherwise go to waste.
Lots of people don't mind if their organs are donated, they just never sign up for the organ donation list. Those organs go to waste. If organ donation was compulsory then those organs would automatically go to help someone. If people are against organ donation for any reason then they can sign a non donation register to opt out.

Why it was rejected

There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.

I'm sorry - we cannot accept duplicate petitions. We think this petition is similar to yours:

make the national donor register an opt out service not an opt in service

You might like to sign this petition instead. It is more likely to get more signatures that way.
