What the petition asks
Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is a use of torture used on women and young girls across 29 African countries. But many young girls across the UK are at risk of having it performed on them. It is estimated that over 20,000 girls under the age of 15 in the UK are at risk of FGM each year.
FGM is a procedure where a females clitoris is removed and cut to prevent them from feeling pleasure during sex. Girls have it performed on them as early as 5 years old with un sterilized including glass and rusty metal. None of the girls are under anesthetic when the procedure is being performed. Around 125 million living now have been harmed by FGM.
Young people in the UK need to be taught about the issue as it is a violation of human rights and is considered as torture. Help us change the education system by signing this petition.
