Reinstate Capital Punishment for Heinous Crimes

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

Ever since capital punishment has been abolished in the UK, serious crime has increased and the amount of people that are wrongly imprisoned has also risen.

Capital punishment provides a deterrent for those that commit serious crimes and can deter repeat offenders from committing again.
There are some crimes where prison is not enough and people don't want their tax to be spent sustaining these police-murderers/child rapists etc.

For those that argue, using capital punishment is more expensive than sustaining them in prison, there are many forms of capital punishment that do not cost anywhere near as much - e.g. firing squad.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

It's not clear to which crimes you would like this request to apply. There are already petitions open on the site calling for the death penalty to be a sentencing option for certain crimes. You may find that you would like to sign one of these instead. Otherwise, you could start a new petition with a more specific request.
