What the petition asks
Considering the difficulty and challenges faced but most people in getting on the property ladder , it will be a wise and fair legislation to make mortgage institutions consider previous rent payment history of prospective mortgage applicant than requesting for a 5/10%.
I have been a tenant for the past 10 year of living in the UK and for those 10years have constantly without missing any month paid my rent of £1150 for a two bedroom house yet I cannot afford the deposit for a mortgage as my rent take more than 50% of my rent.
Pratically, over 10year I have paid a total of £138,000 in rent on some bodies mortgage hence been denied the opportunity of owing my own property because of the assessment procedure by the mortgage institution .
This need to be reviewed.
