Allow asylum applications to be processed at any EU embassy in the world

What the petition asks
Refugees have no way of applying for asylum or temporary protection other than undertaking an illegal and hazardous journey to Europe and applying on arrival. This is fuelling an illegal trafficking racket and resulting in mass deaths by drowning, cold and starvation in our seas and at our borders.
Over 3,000 people have drowned in the Mediterranean this year.

Allowing refugees to claim asylum at EU embassies in Africa or the Middle East would give them a safe, legal way to come and would undercut the smugglers. It would avoid creating a generation of angry anti-Europeans.
