Make organ donation an opt out system across the UK!

Rejected 15 signatures

What the petition asks

My name is Natalie Kerr, I am 33 years old and a single mother to two children aged 13 and 7. In February 2012 my life was saved when I received a double lung transplant! It is because of this that I am here today! I propose that we change the law to give more people this chance and save lives!
Every year thousands die in the UK waiting for an organ transplant, there are currently 6707 people waiting for a transplant with only 1969 actually receiving a one since 1st April this year! If we make organ donation an opt out system then so many lives could be saved however still giving the general public the choice to opt out if they do not agree. Most people appear to agree with organ donation yet fail to join the register or share their wishes with their families. Let's save lives!
