What the petition asks
I believe it is essential that young people are educated on the subject of politics and political and social issues. They should be encouraged to form their opinions in preparation for their ability to vote, so that ultimately we have more people actively involved and a fairer voting system.
Voter turnout for the general elections has declined overall since
1945. http://www.ukpolitical.info/Turnout45.htm
The 18-24 age group has the lowest turnout to vote of all age groups.
http://www.ukpolitical.info/Turnout15.htm
We cannot let this decline continue if we want a fair, democratic system that listens to the voices of people from all social backgrounds.
