More financial support for carers and recognition of the work we do.

What the petition asks
Unpaid carers who rely on carer's allowance are usually in some sort of financial difficulty as they cannot always work and care for their relatives. I'd like for us to be paid more in line with an actual wage as we are doing the same work for much less. Along with paid leave should we fall ill.
Carer's Allowance is £62.10 a week, this means that an unpaid carer who is caring for the minimum 35 hours a week needed to claim Carer's Allowance is only being paid around £1.77 an hour.
CarersUK recently discovered that our contribution of care is worth £132 billion each year.
