Customs vessels should be used for policing our borders not fishing boats

What the petition asks

The UK Borders need protection more than ever from the threat of terrorists. The fishing industry is already heavily policed by such organisations as IFCA and the MMO and Kent has its own fisheries protection vessel to carry out these duties.
These vessels must do the job they are designed to do.

Fishermen in Kent and Essex are being harassed and boarded by the customs vessel the 'Vigilante'. All the time that this vessel is carrying out these duties it is not protecting our borders from such things as drug runners, illegal immigrants and the potential influx of terrorists. This must stop immediately and our borders must be protected
