Lemmy needs a UK state funeral

Rejected 18 signatures

What the petition asks

Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead and Hawkwind has been hugely influential as a driving force in music for over 50 years - he deserves a UK state funeral.
Lemmy has been hugely influential as a force in music for over 50 years - from rock'n'roll to blues, punk and metal, whilst remaining unique, loud and original. Lemmy was a practicing anarchist who believed in a compassionate form of freedom, loathed professional politics and polticians but is admired at home and far beyond our shores. Lemmy was a man of the people, yet internationally famous, his contribution to humanity will not and should not be forgotten - he deserves a UK state funeral.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

The Government and the House of Commons do not have the power to decide that someone should receive a state funeral. You can find out more about this here:

http://researchbriefings.parliament.uk/ResearchBriefing/Summary/SN06600

You could start a new petition asking the House of Commons to ask the Queen for a state funeral to be given, and for the House of Commons to provide the money for a state funeral.
