Give David Bowie a state funeral.

What the petition asks
David Bowie was one of the most innovative artists of his generation. Not only was his musical influence vast, but his progressive attitude towards sexuality and gender had far-reaching positive influences on society and contributed to creating a more tolerant world than the one he was born into.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
The Government and the House of Commons do not have the power to decide that someone should receive a state funeral. You can find out more about this here:
http://researchbriefings.parliament.uk/ResearchBriefing/Summary/SN06600
You could start a new petition asking the House of Commons to ask the Queen for a state funeral to be given, and for the House of Commons to provide the money for a state funeral.
