What the petition asks
The Government has announced a swathe of reforms for the Social work profession that seems to focus on accreditation and more justification processes for practitioners.
The pressures of front line staff juggling high increasingly complex caseloads in a climate of high poverty, low investment and social challenge has been unaddressed again.the high demand created by endless administration and paperwork ignored, the hours of expected unpaid overtime and burnout unconsidered.
I want this issue re-debated and recognition that the challenges social work faces aren't down to a lack of commitment, qualification or professionalism. Social workers know what needs to change to deliver better outcomes for vulnerable children and adults. Why has the government not asked us?
