Set up a Royal Commission to solve the UK Housing Crisis

Closed 296 signatures

What the petition asks

Government obsession with home-ownership is unhealthy.

Current policy will create a decline in social housing and in the private rented sector; the new definition of affordable housing to include expensive starter homes will reduce housing options for the poorest in society.
More housing of ALL tenures is needed.

Providing tax incentives to housing providers on the same basis as other countries would attract investment in housing, thus increasing choice and rebalancing supply and demand.

Incentives = Solutions

Government is asked to set up a Royal Commission on Housing to achieve a balanced housing policy and fair tax treatment which incentivises investment in all housing tenures and meets the housing needs of all.
