Boycott World Cup 2018 in Russia

Rejected 19 signatures

What the petition asks

The reason for our campaign is, above all, Russia’s annexation of Crimea and invasion of eastern Ukraine. President Vladimir Putin’s actions during this violation of international law also included supplying the Buk missile system used to shoot down flight MH17 on July 17, 2014.

30 Russian activists have already signed this letter: http://xsovietunion.blogspot.co.uk/2016/01/press-release-russian-activists-oppose.html?view=magazine

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We're not sure what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take. If you would like Government ministers to boycott the 2018 World Cup then you could start a petition on that issue.

However if you would like the football teams of the home nations to boycott the 2018 World Cup, then that is a matter for each of the teams and not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
