Revise or Revoke Under-Occupancy Penalty, AKA Bedroom Tax

Rejected 15 signatures

What the petition asks

I would like to see the Under-Occupancy Penalty, AKA Bedroom Tax, either completely revoked or revised to make it fairer, especially for single person claimants.

Further, I would like see DHP (Discretionary Housing Payments) made available to everyone, not just people with disabilities.
I would like to see the Under-Occupancy Penalty removed or revised so as to allow up to one room beyond daily requirements without incurring any kind of benefits penalty. I also feel that shelters, for victims of abuse, and similar locations, including locations with council installed panic facilities, should be fully exempt from this (Under-Occupancy) penalty.

Further, full, details, including links, can be found here: https://you.38degrees.org.uk/p/nobedtax

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to ask clearly for a specific action.

We already have a petition asking for the bedroom tax to be revoked completely:

Stop bedroom tax!

If you would like the under-occupancy penalty to be changed in the way you describe, you could start a new petition asking for that to happen.
