What the petition asks
The Honours Forfeiture Committee only have powers to remove titles from Knights and below. They do not have the power to remove Peers of the realm. The last time this happened was over 100 years ago for treason. In view of the recent Lord Janner revelations this must now change.
With Lord Janner revelations, this has brought much contempt, dishonour and disgrace to the House of Lords one of our nations great constitutions. We, the public feel that Lord Janner should not remain a peer of the realm even after death and should have his title removed.
This petition is asking Parliament to create a new Act of Parliament to extend the powers of the Honours Forfeiture Committee to cover Peers of the realm to investigate and remove peers who dishonour or disgrace the nation.
