Make reporting driver details in a road traffic accident mandatory

What the petition asks
We must make the offence of failing or refusing to report the driver details of a vehicle involved in a road traffic accident to be at least equal to the offence committed in the accident itself.
Currently if refused, they are given penalty points and a small fine. This is woefully inadequate.

With respect to this RTA where a cyclist was seriously injured in a hit and run accident:

To protect road users, failure to respond with full driver details on demand should be deemed as:
* Contempt
* Admission of guilt by all parties that fail to respond
This is a serious loophole which has been exploited to allow the person responsible for a serious road traffic accident to escape the correct punishment and is free to repeat again.
