Petition · past parliament
Stop MP's claiming expenses so that they can better relate to the electorate.

What the petition asks
MP's are elected by the public to serve the public. It is in the public interest that MP's understand how difficult it is for the general public to afford basic essentials. It is my opinion that if MP's were unable to claim expenses they would soon understand how the public struggle to afford basics
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
The Government and Parliament don’t have the power to set MPs’ pay and expenses. That power was given by Parliament to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) in 2010.
