What the petition asks
Since 1903 Ireland/Northern Ireland have had a Bank Holiday for St. Patrick's Day and since 2007 Scotland have had a Bank Holiday for St. Andrew's Day, however England and Wales unlike the rest of the United Kingdom do not have a Bank Holiday for their respective Patron Saint's Day.
The reference below shows the enactment of the Scotland Act 2007. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/asp/2007/2/introduction/enacted
England and Wales have 8 public holidays a year which is less than any other G20 country, Scotland have 9 which is equal to the number of German Public Holiday's. http://www.onrec.com/news/statistics-and-trends/uk-has-lowest-number-of-public-holidays-within-g20
Is it time for the UK to bring itself into line with the rest of the world when it comes to Public Holidays?
