Petition · past parliament

Legally cap MPs pay rises at the minimum granted other public sector workers.

Rejected 13 signatures

What the petition asks

In 2015, MPs were granted a 10% pay rise but capped pay rises for others in the public sector below 1%. In 2016, MPs have granted themselves another pay rise above others in the public sector. I propose a legally binding cap on MPs salaries at the minimum granted their public sector colleagues.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for setting the salary of MPs.
