Impose a new contract on Jeremy Hunt.

Rejected 16 signatures

What the petition asks

With the total lack of meaningful negation on the part of Jeremy Hunt with the BMA and now the imposition of new working contract on the hard working junior doctors this nurse would like to see a new contract imposed on Jeremy Hunt. Making him work seven days a week and have all expenses cut.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Were you to submit a petition calling on the Government and Parliament to introduce fixed working hours for MPs and Ministers then we could consider it.

The Government and Parliament don’t have the power to set MPs’ expenses. That power was given by Parliament to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) in 2010, so that after 2012 MPs no longer had control over their own pay or expenses.

The only way the Government and Parliament could have a say over their expenses and pay would be if the law was changed to return the power to set MPs’ pay to the MPs themselves, or to give the power to some other body. The law could only be changed by Parliament.
