What the petition asks
I'd like to stop all companies from using my personal details or information collected about me for any other purpose than to deliver the service I asked for.
Mandatory opt out of this type of information sharing should be UK law unless a customer explicitly opts in.
The Information Commissioner must have extensive powers to deal with any breaches and large companies must be mandated to provide clear and transparent information outlining how much of this type of information they hold, how many customers have explicitly opted in (records to be kept), who they share information with and details of any money that has exchanged hands as a result.
