Petition · past parliament

Lower the voting age to 16 for EU referendum, we will live through the decision.

Rejected 17 signatures

What the petition asks

In Britain at 16 we can legally marry and legally start a family, so why is it that we cannot vote for things that matter. On the 23rd of June history will be made irrelevant of whether we vote to stay or leave. I feel those who are 16 and up should have a say in our future, we will live through it.
If the case for 16 year olds to not vote is that they are too immature to think for themselves, then why do 16 year olds have the ability to procreate and marry. As a 17 year old who will be 20 days to late to vote, I feel frustrated and annoyed I have no say.
