What the petition asks
I am a maternity care assistant and have been for nine years. I work 30 hours whilst studing at college. I am trying to further my education to go on to study midwifery. With the fees and bursary being stopped. I dont think I can continue to do my chosen career and become a midwife.
Every year the universities change the entry requirements making it harder.
However, with the change in fees and bursary, it makes it more difficult for us to leave a full paying job.
I feel Maternity Care Assistants should have equal rights and equal oppurtunities like HCA's. They're bringing a new role out called nursing associate for HCA's to train on the job and become a qualified nurse. We should have the same on the job training or bring back the secondment to become a qualified midwife. I
