Stop pay rise for MP's and cap their salaries
Rejected

What the petition asks
It was announced that the salary for a Member of Parliament will now be increased to £74,862 per annum. This salary is usually additional income as many MP's - such as our 'beloved' Minister of Health Jeremy Hunt - receive payments from their own companies.
This petition is in conjunction with the new contract being imposed on junior doctors that will see Saturday made into a normal working day. It is immoral to increase the salary of the very institute that is attempting to reduce the salary of our junior doctors.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
The Government and Parliament don’t have the power to set MPs’ pay. That power was given by Parliament to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) in 2010, so that after 2012 MPs no longer had control over their own pay.
