Petition · past parliament

Cap what motorway services can charge HGV drivers for food and drink.

Rejected 18 signatures

What the petition asks

HGV drivers are legally obligated to take regular breaks. Often due to routes & vehicle dimensions it is only safe & suitable to stop at services. Drivers are then forced to pay a high premium to consume basic food and drink from their outlets as there is few alternatives.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

This is the responsibility of retailers at service stations, not the Government or Parliament.

You could start a new petition asking Parliament to change the law, to require employers of HGV drivers to pay allowances for food and drink consumed during legally-required rest stops.
