Sarah Wollaston to call Jeremy Hunt before Health Select Committee immediately

SoS for Health Jeremy Hunt MP has been accused of misrepresenting data, misleading the public, creating a situation where thousands of junior doctors are engaged in strike action and may have caused deaths by his weekend effect statements. A labour SoS would have been brought before the committee

We can only accept petitions which call on the Government or the House of Commons as a whole to take action. We can’t, therefore accept a petition which calls on an individual member, or a committee, to take a particular action.

We could accept a petition calling on the House of Commons to refer a specific matter to a committee. In this case, a petition could ask the House to refer the matter of NHS contracts to the Health Committee, and suggest that the Committee might wish to take evidence from the Secretary of State on that matter.
