What the petition asks
Cervical smears used to provided to women at the age of 20 in wales, then the age was upped to 25 due to the fact that cervical cancer is very rare in unders 25's, yet more and more women are having abnormal smears and younger women are being diagnosed with cervical cancer more frequently.
If abnormal cells are detected earlier then the risk of cervical cancer will be lowered OR the severity of treatment will be lowered. Some servere treatment can include things that will lower your chances of being able to conceive naturally or even conceive at all. Extreme treatment can mean having a hysterectomy. Anyone who is sexually active can contract hpv virus which in some circumstances can lead to abnormal cells which in turn can lead to cervical cancer
