Lets change to Opt OUT not IN for organ donations and help save a life.

Rejected 11 signatures

What the petition asks

England has one of the lowest organ donation rates in Europe. Currently we have to opt IN to become a donor but our wishes are often rejected at the bedside by our next of kin who have no wish to have your organs donated. 40% of viable organs are wasted in this way each year. Lets change to opt OUT.
10,000 people UK need an organ transplant.
3,000 transplants take place each year.
More than 400 people die waiting for an organ transplant each year.
Another 500 people become too ill to receive a transplant and have to be removed from the list.
4,212 transplants were carried out between April 2012 and March 2,013 thanks to 2,313 donors.
1160 lives were saved.
3,697 people had their sight restored through a cornea transplant.
3 people die each day..........waiting.
