Introduce standards of professional behaviour in the commons chamber

Rejected 15 signatures

What the petition asks

Members of parliament have been elected by the British people to undertake a serious and highly responsible task for which they are more than fairly compensated. Their frequent displays of juvenile behaviour that would not be tolerated in any other workplace should be stopped immediately
MPs have serious and responsible job for which the British taxpayers compensate them more than fairly and to a level that the majority of us will never reach. In addition to this they enjoy allowances privileges and subsidies not available to the rest of the working population and yet are in the habit of wasting time during sessions of the house of commons by displaying the sort of behaviour that would lead to disciplinary action in any other workplace or for that matter primary school

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

There are already rules and conventions that apply in the House of Commons Chamber. If you would like specific new rules to be introduced, you could start a new petition explaining clearly the rules you want to see.
