What the petition asks
This proposal:
i)Addresses the democratic deficit – this mechanism gives the British people a regular say on this issue, ensuring we are not ignored for another 40 years
ii)Improves EU accountability - we elect UK Govts. every 5 years, EU membership & performance should be evaluated likewise.

Regular EU referendums offers numerous benefits;
1.Accountability - it makes the EU more accountable knowing their performance is to be reviewed on a regular basis,
2.UK interests - the EU will pay greater heed to the UK’s interests going forward, ensuring the EU develops in a manner more conducive to UK interests
3.Other EU members states may follow suit and adopt similar measures, thereby making the EU more democratic and accountable to all the peoples of Europe.
