What the petition asks
In light of concerns expressed by Ofsted Chief Inspector, Sir Michael Wilshaw and chairman of the Local Government Association’s children and young people board, Councillor Roy Perry, is it right to push through this agenda so hastily?
In a recent Guardian article, Councillor Perry is quoted as saying that 82% of council-maintained schools are rated as good or outstanding by Ofsted and that 15% of the largest academy chains perform above the national average in terms of pupil progress, compared with 44% of council-run schools.
