Ban 'Fracking' (Hydraulic fracturing for shale gas) in the UK.

Closed 798 signatures

What the petition asks

We the undersigned UK residents support a law that condems Hydraulic Fracturing (fracking) of shale gas deposits from UK land and the retrieval or sale of any gas that could be produced from such places. We demand investment in gas produced from anerobic deigestion of organic waste.
Fracking involves drilling past the depth of the water table and injecting water, toxic and radioactive chemicals at high pressure into the rockbed. It is contaminates the water table which is part of the hydrologic cycle. It is environmentally unsustainable. 200 countries have agreed to end the fossil fuel era. We are therefore asking this and future governments to support this agreement and ban hydraulic fractuing in the UK, investing in green gas instead.
