Petition · past parliament

Make use of London Barracks to house MP's rather than fund second mortgages.

Rejected 18 signatures

What the petition asks

Regarding the abuse of public funds, this and other 'Parliament' Perks, Must be stopped! These civil Servants are employed by the Public, and I am sure, the Public wouldn't mind allocating them to London Barracks with all the amenities that Officers and Soldiers have enjoyed.
The United Kingdom parliamentary expenses scandal 2009!...........
In order to reduce the National deficit. I suggest, that instead of selling recently evacuated London Barracks such as Hyde Park. Members of Parliament that have a need for a second dwelling closer to Westminster, should be allocated rooms in the Barracks

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

The Government and Parliament don’t have the power to set MPs’ expenses. That power was given by Parliament to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) in 2010.
