Petition · past parliament

Make all MPs and Lords donate one days pay to house homeless service personnel.

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

Many MPs and Lords own second homes whilst our streets are full of homeless people. A lot of military units have to donate a day's pay to regimental charities or causes.
I think it only right and proper that those in government help our needy ex service personnel who have served our country and have subsequently fallen on hard times by donating one day of their wage per month to this cause.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The UK Government and Parliament do not have the power to make MPs and Lords donate pay, that is a matter for individual MPs and members of the House of Lords.
