Abolish MP and Politicians expenses allowance.

Rejected 13 signatures

What the petition asks

As a working class person I travel to work, buy business dress to wear to work, I have work lunches and as so we as a people are expected to pay to do so.
Unless you decide to work in politics. For too many years now a system has been abused by MP's which shouldn't even exist in the first place.
I put to you as a people do we believe these individuals who choose this career path should pay their way like the rest of us? Why as a working family can we not claim our heating/food/fuel or even a second home as you don't quite live close enough to your work place? I'm pretty sure we know the laughter we as a people would be met with if we tried to do so, so why allow these individuals to do so and blatantly abuse the system with little to no reprucutions.

I ask that we abolish MP expenses.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

The Government and Parliament don’t have the power over to abolish MPs expenses. Powers over MPs pay and expenses were given by Parliament to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) in 2010.
