Petition · past parliament

e-commerce physically based in UK to offer Royal mail rates and courier rates.

Rejected 18 signatures

What the petition asks

Homes in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Isle of Man are normally only offered one rate. This results in much higher costs to THESE AREAS or being refused any delivery at all. Around 69% on line dealers do not offer delivery by Royal Mail, which is the same to anywhere.
A Postcode Penalty survey found 63% of online retailers charge extra delivery for certain parts of the UK and 34% said delivery would take longer for those who live on islands. Royal Mail charges the same no matter where you are located.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We cannot accept your petition as you seem to be asking the e-commerce companies to change their postage costs rather than asking the UK Government or Parliament to take action.
