Petition · past parliament

all publications big and small should offer a commission for photographers

Rejected 20 signatures

What the petition asks

many parts of the media ask for photos to be sent in, then re-sell the images due to their in my opinion unfair t and c's with no commission to the original photographer who has spent their time and outlay in getting the image, this also has a negative impact of photographer vacancies
there are a lot of terms and conditions in local papers and nationals that if you read them as even an amateur photographer or even a casual snapper whose just used their phone may not know.

Effectively allow the media to be able to sell or use your images with no reimbursement to the original snapper/photographer this to me is unfair they make thousands on the images the original photographer gets his name mentioned how can this be fair

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. As private companies, this would be the responsibility of individual media outlets.
