Free Albert Patterson!

Rejected 17 signatures

What the petition asks

SAS hero jailed over Falklands War gun trophy: Former soldier is sentenced to 15 months for 8keeping 9mm pistol to remind him of 22 friends who died during the conflict. He was a hero for this country, then went onto help in Afghanistan and Iraq, knowing he could be captured by ISIS.
We want him released. He should've never got a jail sentence & we want an appeal, for Albert to be released from prison immediately. So please, sign this petition & free this hero.

An article from the Daily Mail to explain the situation further.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

The Government and Parliament are not responsible for releasing people from prison. You could ask the Government to ask the Queen to exercise the prerogative of mercy.

You could also start a new petition calling on Parliament to change the law, to prevent cases like this happening in the future. This is likely to be more effective than asking for a court sentence to be overturned.
