What the petition asks
Members of Parliament and Members of the House of Lords should not have any other types of employment, paid or otherwise. They are well paid for parliamentary work and should not be distracted or preoccupied by other occupations. They should attend Parliament for at least 40 hours per week.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We already have a petition open calling for MPs not to have second jobs:
That MPs should work full time as an MP and not have outside jobs.
If you would like Parliament to change the law, to prevent Members of the House of Lords from having second jobs, we could accept a petition calling for that.
