Change National Planning Policy which permits inappropriate housing development

What the petition asks
The current government planning policy means that if councils don't have a 5 year land supply for housing developers can cast aside planning policy and build on our beautiful countryside. Local opinion and landscape designation are ignored resulting in development on greenfield sites.
Across the country our neighbourhoods are under threat by developers who speculatively submit planning applications knowing that our councils don't have the finances or resources to challenge them. There is clearly a need for more housing however a huge amount of brownfield available with planning permission which developers are land banking whilst they exploit the weakness in our planning policy that enables them to force through development on cheaper to develop greenfield sites.
