What the petition asks

Make First Aid Training a prerequisite for any person before they become a Qualified Teacher and are left in charge of a class of up to 30 children alone, between the ages of 4 and 11.

There is no legislation stating a minimum number of First Aid trained staff in a primary school.
Currently it is up to the Governors and Head Teacher to carry out a risk assessment, based on the outlay of the school, students, staff and other factors, as to how many members of staff they need to be First Aid trained.
Class Teachers are left alone with up to 30 children in their care, yet there is no legislation stating that they need to have had any previous First Aid Training.
