Order Inquests child deaths 1966 to 1972 in care at The Beeches Ixworth Suffolk
Rejected
13 signatures
What the petition asks
Disabled children, in Hackney and Islington care, died at the Beeches. In spite of Commons questions in 1972 it seems no one knows how many died or how they were registered dead. Abuse inquiries, Islington Suffolk project, have now drawn attention to the nearby Henniker Estate.
In spite of Commons questions 1972 the number and details of children who died remain unknown. I request that the Home Secretary power to order inquests be applied to ordering Article 2 inquests for all the children who died there in that six years. Coroners Act 1988.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
The Government and Parliament are not responsible for deciding whether an Article 2 inquest is held. This is the responsibility of the coroner, who is independent of the Government and Parliament.
