Petition · past parliament

Students found the maths exam difficult so Edexcel should bring boundaries down.

Rejected 11 signatures

What the petition asks

As the maths exam was completed, many people went outside and found the exam really hard and Edexcel may be increasing the grade boundaries this year. So everyone should understand the difficulty does reflect on the performance everyone had during this exam.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We cannot accept your petition because the UK Government or Parliament is not responsible for the issue you raise. Grade boundaries are set by exam boards. Exam boards are regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual), which regulates qualifications, examinations and assessments in England.

You can make a complaint to Ofqual about the organisations it regulates, including complaining about grade boundaries set by individual exam boards. Further information about how to complain is available here: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/ofqual/about/complaints-procedure.
