What the petition asks
In the wake of the EU referendum result we petition HM government to apply for membership to the European Union.
We were told it will take a long time to reapply for membership so let us begin that process now.
We state clearly: We wish for the UK to apply for membership to the European Union.

We state clearly: We wish for the UK to apply for membership to the European Union.
The result, though decisive was not reflective of the will of the constituent nations of this realm.
We accept the decision and will of the British people and wish to start afresh our commitment to joining the European Union.

Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
The UK has not yet left the EU. You could start a new petition calling for the Government to give an undertaking that it will reapply for EU membership as soon as the UK leaves the EU.
