Give the right to vote for ALL British passport holders worldwide

Rejected 19 signatures

What the petition asks

Many of the 2.2 million expats living in the EU and countless others living elsewhere in the world were barred from voting on the 23/6/2016 just because they had been away from the United Kingdom.
The overturning of the UN-democratic 15 year rule was part of the present governments manifesto, and despite high court action taken, the will of the overseas expat communities were pushed to one side

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

The Government has said that it does have plans to change this rule. It's therefore not clear what action you would like the Government to take that is different from what it is already doing.

You can find more information in the Government's response to this petition:
Extend Eu referendum voting rights to all UK citizens living abroad.
