Petition · past parliament

Have a new EU referendum, lowering its voting age to 16.

Rejected 15 signatures

What the petition asks

Out of Britain's population, the most affected by the EU referendum are the younger generation. A leave vote compromises their ability to find employment in Europe, and eliminating them from such an important political decision is simply undemocratic.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

The EU referendum has already taken place. It is therefore no longer possible for the franchise (the groups of people who are entitled to vote) to be changed.
