Ages 16+17: votes to be included in EU referendum, before final leave decision

What the petition asks

EU change will have a significant effect on young people. The eligibility for the Scottish referendum lowered to 16.
Our 16 and 17 year olds have been disadvantaged in that they have been excluded from this referendum.
Their voices need to be heard before a definitive decision is made.
As a mother of a 17 year old who is (and has friends who are) frustrated that their futures have been decided, without any recourse, I hope to get support to enable their voices to be heard.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

The EU referendum has already taken place. It is therefore no longer possible for the franchise (the groups of people who are entitled to vote) to be changed.
