To pass a law enabling all UK citizens to retain their EU citizenship
Rejected

What the petition asks
When the UK leaves the EU, UK citizens will be stripped of their EU citizenship and will lose the automatic rights to work and live in the remaining 27 countries of the European Union. UK citizens do not want to be stripped of their fundamental EU rights and the opportunities that these create.
Article 20 of the Lisbon Treaty gives EU citizenship to nationals of the EU Member States. Once we have left the EU, UK nationals will no longer benefit from this provision. The loss of EU citizenship and its consequences were not explained to the voters during the referendum campaign and this omission must now be addressed by Parliament. This situation must be rectified by HM Government's passing the necessary legislation.
