What the petition asks
So many feel unequipped to engage properly with political and legal issues that will affect them. This leads to misinformed voting or not voting at all. We need to make this territory accessible for everyone and this introduction would make the 'scary' 'approachable' from a young age.
At 16, after undergoing woodwork and dance classes, surely every student after completing a compulsory education should know what tax is, how the political parties operate and what distinguishes them, which different types of voting exist, how laws are made etc.
After completing my compulsory education, I would want to know how my country is run and what I can do to change it. Let's supply the education which is so desperately needed and ensure no-one is left in the dark.
